Mary Ann Lumba​​​​​​

 

Mary Ann is a SAG-Eligible Filipina American actress and print model. She was born in the Philippines. Her ethnic makeup is mixed with Chinese, Indian, Spanish and Filipino. 

At an early age, she showed her desire to be an actress by performing scenes for her mother. She loved watching Filipino soap operas and played dramatic roles in her skits. 

When she was 5 years old, she moved with her family to California. At the age of 9, she begged her parents to let her take violin lessons at school. She loved it so much. Every song she learned in school she rushed home just to play for her parents. 

 

By the time she was in middle school, she was not only a straight A student but she also held first chair in the First Violins section of Orchestra. She became part of a string quartet in school that would perform for school assemblies and other special occasions. She has always been very passionate when it came to performing. 

 

While in high school, she continued to play the violin. She was part of an All City Orchestra. She was a cheerleader and fashion board model for Nordstrom. At 17, she participated in a non-profit fashion show for the Bay Area Foundation for Youth. She wanted to be an actress but had to go to college first. She attended the University of San Francisco, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Math and a double minor in Business Administration and Philippine Studies.

In 2011, she finally decided to pursue acting by taking her first acting class. She loves the freedom to express herself creatively that she continued taking more classes. She's been in several plays performed in West Hollywood and numerous independent films, a couple of which are on Amazon. On tv, you may have even seen her on a Filipino commercial or a crime tv show.

Currently, she wrote, produced and acted in her first short film in 2022. It has won several awards in film festivals in various parts of the world. In 2023, it has won Best Thriller Short, Best Covid Film, Best International Short Film to name a few. Most recently it was an award winner at the Santa Barbara International Movie Awards for Best Short Film and Mary Ann as Best Actress. You can find the film on IMDb.  She has a passion to perform and to express her creativity. Aside from acting, she loves martial arts and self defense. She trained in boxing but decided to stop when her opponent decided to back down for an exhibition fight. These days you can find her training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ) and Shotokan Karate.
